Lexus GS 450h Hybrid Car Review

By now most people know that the Lexus brand is nothing more then the luxury division of Toyota and anyone who has ever worked on a Lexus knows that the motors are very similar to the mother brand. Just like the parent company, Lexus is known for its ultra high quality in auto making. While they were at one time an independent company seeking to make a mark, the merger with Toyota has taken the line of high class automobiles to the next level. The Lexus brand has become one with style and over all performance and that does not bother Toyota in the slightest. They bought the Lexus company with the intention of raising their image away from just a practical car company to something that was to be respected and thought of as high class and so on. This is exactly what they got and Lexus is one of the top selling luxury brands in the entire world.

The GS 450h has been around the block a time or two but it is just now coming to the front of the lines with its new hybrid release. This model has been one of the most popular of all Lexus models and the hybrid release is slated to take over that top spot with out too much trouble. Officially in the line up for the 2007 model year, the sales have been brisk. Using the same style as the all gas version, the new hybrid is a marvel of modern technology. Not only will it be a big saver on the gas but the extra electric engines that are standard on board this model can help the car achieve as much as three hundred horsepower. This is coupled with the fact that the GS 450h is the first mass produced rear wheel drive hybrid. It comes standard with the patented variable transmission that is constantly switching from the electric to gas versions to ensure that the proper gas mileage is being achieved.

While the hybrid version of the 450h is a technological advancement like the world has never seen it does not do much for the fuel efficiency. This vehicle boasts a rating of only twenty eight miles per gallon highway and twenty five miles per gallon city. This is a definite disappointment when you consider the fact that is a complete hybrid. The experts believe the added weight from all the luxury accessories aids in this poor rating.
