GMC Sierra Hybrid Car Review

Over the years there have been a lot of mergers that people are seemingly unaware of. There has been a matter where different car companies merge into one without anyone understanding that it happened. This was the case with GMC and the big money deals they made to acquire huge car companies like Chevrolet, Pontiac and Cadillac. With this merge there have been many vehicles put out by the companies that seem rather similar, but they are all as different as night and day when one looks at them with a trained eye. The proof positive of this would be the GMC Sierra. This truck has been one of the most popular models since it was first introduced in the late 1930’s when the pick up trucks were still new and becoming quite the big thing in the world. Since that time there have been new additions and upgrades to the GMC Sierra that would skyrocket this auto maker to the top of the heap in many ways.

Working from the success that they found with the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC decided to release the GMC Sierra hybrid full size pick up truck. They staggered the release of these two models, which are similar in some fashions, and people from both sides of the coin have come forward to make a purchase. The marketing challenge that was faced with this model was very similar to that of the Silverado hybrid. How do you make people believe that a truck can get decent gas mileage when they have forever been seen as the gas hogs of the world? Well the answer was simple. They needed to make people understand how the hybrid technology worked so they took a page from the rest of the world and started several advertising campaigns based on the technology itself. This tactic worked well for them and the Sierra is one of the top rated hybrid trucks in the entire world.

The GMC Sierra, like its cousin the Silverado is not a full hybrid. It employs the electric assist motor to power the accessories and such on the truck. There is no take over on the part of the motor and the truck cannot be run as all electric as most of the hybrid cars can. The powering of the accessories by the electric motor takes away some of the stress on the motor which was one of the reasons why the gas mileage was always so poor.
